50th Anniversary Specialty Show to the memory of Shirley Fowler
On June 9, 2002 at the Longshore/Southport Kennel Club show, the Bulldog Club of Connecticut dedicated this, their 50th Anniversary Specialty Show to the memory of Shirley Fowler. Shirley Fowler was one of the founding members of the Bulldog Club of Connecticut. She held many offices and was known for her Wesleyanne Bulldogs. Another early member, Jane Lamarine, was the sweepstakes judge for the show.
George M. Beckett Memorial Award
The Bulldog Club of Connecticut has also established the George M. Beckett Memorial Award after the death of Mr. Beckett in 1963. A Memorial Committee was appointed to administer the annual award which they have been doing to this day. To be eligible for this award you must be the breeder of the American Bred Bulldog male that has been the sire of the greates number of sons and/or daughters recognized by the American Kennel Club as Champions of Record during the five year period preceding the award: This award will also be awarded to the breeder of the American Bred Bulldog female that has been the dam of the greatest number of sons and/or daughters recognized by the American Kennel Club as Champions of Record during the five years preceding the award. All breeders of American Bred Bullldogs in the United States shall be eligible to compete for these awards.
